Please Note: I am not taking on new clients or projects at this time.
You are...
- A writer who wants professional feedback on a draft, needs to break through a block, or wants to polish your work for submission
- A publisher who needs editorial support to develop a manuscript
- An academic who needs an editor in the arts and social sciences
Because I take on select projects only, you can be confident that you are the most important client I am working with now. Communications has been my business for more than a decade, and I know it starts with a strong client relationship. It's important to me that we work well together so that our partnership is productive, positive, and fun.
What I give my clients...
Skill. There are many facets to editing, including structure, style, copyediting, and proofreading. This partial list gives you an idea of the kind of analysis and detail I can help you with when I edit:
|
Perspective. Have you been looking at your writing for so long that the words, sentences, and ideas blur in your mind? I bring a fresh pair of eyes and greater clarity to your work.
Communication. This is my business. It is what I do best, whether that means a conversation to understand you and your project, or getting each word on the page right. Accountability. Every manuscript I edit is covered by a contract ahead of time, three close readings of your work, editorial notes on your pages, and a written summary of key comments. I want you to be happy with the results of my edit. I will follow up with you to answer any outstanding questions even after you have made your final payment. Economy. Writing courses or monthly app fees add up. I work with you one-on-one to give you customized attention for your work and for you as an author. Deadlines. I spent 10 years meeting high priority deadlines for charities that depended on the money raised by my proposals. You can be confident that I will meet your deadlines. Turn-around. For a standard book-length manuscript (approx. 300 pages), I schedule 2-4 weeks. Priority. I do not have a slush pile. I care about you as a writer and my purpose is to help you create your best work. |
